The Spindy 500 competitions, costs, and the "Bang you get for your Buck!"

Cost is $16.00. 75% of that goes prizes (Medals and Gift Certificates). The remaining 25% covers shipping of medals, paypal fees, and administrative costs. I hope at the end of the day there is about $120 left over as my pay for the 4 months working. It all depends on how much shipping cost go up in the new year.
1. Most yards spun by a team.
2. Most yards spun by an individual. 3 categories, Spindle, Wheel, Electric.
3. Most yards spun in 1 hour. 3 categories, Spindle, Wheel, Electric. Set your timer for this one and spin like the wind!
PAY TO ENTER CONTEST: open to anyone. Do NOT have to be on a team to enter.
The LONGEST One Gram Slam.
For your $8 entry you will be sent 1 gram of carefully weighed Corriedale/merino RAW locks. You may wash, prep, even dye it if you like before the start on Feb 22nd. BUT Spinning can only be done during the week of competition. This MUST be spun into a 2 ply yarn. This yardage should be included on your individual totals also if spinning on a team.
You need to mail the 2 ply yarn to me ASAP. I will physically measure all entries. The plan is to measure all at the same time against each other, and video the action!
I will not be returning the yarn entries, they will be plied together and use as lanyards for The Spindy 500 medals!
Prizes for this competition will be medals and Corriedale/Merino RAW locks, amounts will depend on # of entries.
Competition will be limited to 30 entries, but may be able to extend that if enough interest.

The 3 Hour Tour! Set your timer and clock in 3 hours of spinning during the week. Turn your totals in at the end....that's it! Medals only for this competition and
of course Bragging Rights too. 3 Categories, Spindle, Wheel, Electric. # of Medals will be determined by # of entries.
HOW TO MEASURE YOUR YARN:
You must physically measure the yarn. No yarn balance or estimating.
Only yarn spun during competition can be used or counted.
Count each single and each ply, up to 2 plies and multiply it by yardage.
Everyone is on their honor to measure as accurately as possible.
TEAM and INDIVIDUAL CONTESTS: Report your totals to your team captain along with what you spun on. Team Captains turn totals into me

Another goal I have for this competition, is to help out as many small businesses as I can. SOOOOO All prizes and medals will be purchased from them!
If we get a full registration of 112 spinners there will be 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Place Medals for all contest. Medals are being made by a crafter local to me.
The remaining prize money will be spread out 1st, 2nd, 3rd in the form of Gift Cards.
If we do not fill up, prizes will be adjusted accordingly.
Here is the FUN twist! Winners get to choose where they would like the gift certificates to! I will have a list of fibery websites to choose from, or the winners can send me a link to where ever you want. The only requirement is that they will sell gift certificates in any amount from $5 to $30 and take Paypal. I'm keeping all transactions through paypal so need to pay out from there.
